The campaign persona of Senator Obama is a Potemkin village created by David Axelrod.
In an earlier post (Obama, The Facade), I noted the role of David Axelrod, Chicago’s liberal-socialist campaign manipulator, in creating the public image of Senator Obama, from the beginning of his political career.
More details are provided in Matthew Kaminski’s Wall Street Journal opinion piece.
Of particular relevance for the present campaign is the inability of Senator Obama and his pal Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick, carbon copies of the Axelrod “hope” and “change” imagery, to govern effectively.
When the candidate’s personality is the only substance to his campaign and he lacks a track record of executive accomplishment, we can expect the legislative branch and the entrenched executive bureaucracy to run roughshod over him. Voters expecting great new accomplishments from Senator Obama inevitably will be disappointed.
