Proclaiming one thing in public, Senator Obama did the opposite in private, trying to undercut President Bush’s ongoing negotiations with Iraq.
As part of the Potemkin-village facade created by his campaign mastermind David Axelrod, Senator Obama campaigned on the promise to end the Iraq campaign and begin withdrawing troops immediately.
In private talks with Iraqi government officials, however, he deliberately attempted to manipulate negotiations in order to prolong our military involvement and make President Bush look as bad as possible.
Had he succeeded, unnecessary loss of military personnel lives would have been the result.
Maggie’s Farm provides a link to the details.
Such cynical playing with American military lives, while in accord with liberal-progressive-socialist collectivism, is indeed change, of a very different sort. As Stalin reportedly said, thinking of future social perfection under the collectivized political state, “One death is a tragedy. A million deaths is just a statistic.”
