Public Employees’ Unions to Nation: Drop Dead!
In the real world, everyone acknowledges the necessity to cut back on work hours and wage increases until business costs come back into line with lower prices at current demand levels. Not so public employee unions. (See also Andy Stern’s Go-To Guy).
Public employee union leaders, seemingly unable to read the daily newspapers, have announced that there is no need for any sort of cutbacks. Before the election of Margaret Thatcher as British Prime Minister, a popular expression to summarize labor-union selfishness was, “Pull up the [life boat] ladder, Jack. I’m aboard.”
