    Is the expense of war, both in money and the loss of freedom, greater than the higher price of oil?

    Would the Islamists hate us so much if we withdrew our troops from their soil, if we stopped funding their socialist enemies (Israel) and stopped threatening countries we haven't yet invaded (Iran)?

    Also, if Islamic nations sell oil into the world oil market at all, it can be resold to the US. Our oil problems in the 1970s were partly due to the federal government's misguided attempts to ration oil after OPEC formed. Cartels like OPEC are inherently unstable.
