Obama’s Prolonged Recession

Since the beginning of the 20th century, only two recessions in this country have endured more than two years: the Herbert Hoover /  Franklin Roosevelt New Deal (twelve years) and Barack Obama’s (four years).  In both cases, the most important negative factor was, and is, the anti-business, pro-socialism character of the Democrat/Socialist Party regime in power.

  2. Soullinker,

Clearly, you are a little hazy on how our political system works. Presidential terms are four years, not the five years you make it. Therefore, Mr. Obama (if not impeached) can at most serve another four years (plus the remaining two months of his current term.

  4. Soullinker,

I am curious to know what it is about Obama that makes you believe he “is still the right choice for America”. Specifically, what is it you think he has done to improve the lives of ordinary Americans, enhance our image abroad, restore the economy, increase military effectiveness or readiness, reduce governmental cost (or of anything else for which government has a legitimate interest or right of intervention), standby our longtime most reliable allies, part seas or ‘save the planet’? Or, failing that, what is it you think he will still deliver, and why do you believe he can deliver in eight years what he could not in four against an ever increasing resistance? According to PolitiFact (via Business Insider; see http://www.businessinsider.com/has-obama-kept-his-major-campaign-promises-2012-5?op=1 ), he has kept only a third of his campaign promises; and, according to our sources (and better informed opinions), those he did keep were, at best, ineffective, costly, hugely corrupting, deceptive and increase dependency without solving any of the problems they supposedly cure. Indeed, they compound such problems. At worst, he is wrecking America as we know it.

I am sorry, but I think you are living in a world of wish-fulfillment, and want Obama to succeed so badly you have suspended normal, healthy skepticism. As shown by the recent election, you are not alone in this self-inflicted delusion. From your choice of moniker, I assume you are black. I get it why black-Americans are enthralled with Obama (the first black to succeed in attaining the Presidency), and why that causes so many to suspend judgment with regard to him, even to silencing criticism against him. Harder to fathom is why you (blacks as a group, not you specifically) overwhelming reject black-conservatives, even when those better serve black-interests and better reflect black-values. I also get why guilt-ridden liberal whites bend over backwards kissing the hem, and why radicals of all stripes are rapturously for the guy. At least for a while until the magic wears thin. But, it has been a while, the magic has proved smoke and mirrors, his reputation has taken some severe hits, he has been shown weak before foreign despots, a poor negotiator, a peevish autocrat toward allies (who then upbraid and publicly humiliate him regarding realities), an arrogant pseudo-intellectual who thinks himself better than us poor rubes who “cling to G*d and guns”, and a radical whose notion of change is to so alter America it will be unrecognizable and irreversible for generations to come. And, he is heedless as to the damage that causes to our nation and our unity as a people so long as it advances radical objectives he, himself, imperfectly comprehends. This is a glib showman, whose meteoric rise bypassed the normal hurdles that preselect for ability and would have demonstrated the depth of his unsuitability to such a powerful position. In some other capacity (e.g., family-lawyer, community-organizer, &c) he’d have been fine and not done much damage. But, as President, the man is a bull in a china shop.
