    It's quite a stretch to detect social Darwinism in this post.

    A point I endeavored to make in the article was that government's so-called investments are almost always guided by political considerations, not economic ones.

    Granted it's a Keynesian precept that government spending on anything (digging holes one day, re-filling then the next, re-digging them the third, and so on, ad infinitum) will be money well spent, because Keynes tells us such will revive an economy and eliminate unemployment. In that light. and possibly in your view, Solyandra was a roaring success, even though it was an economic sink hole.
