  1. I find this a rather interesting article for the Washington Post; a newspaper I have long subscribed to, even delivered, but have since decided to discontinue. It

  2. Peggy,

I don't follow your remarks. I can understand cancelling a liberal rag like the Post, but this article was in my mind a put down of the liberal elites--the intelligentsias who dominate the far left radicals--not a defense of their disdain for you and me (and even Mr. Jay, I bet).

It is the arrogance born of high IQ's and a skill at abstract thinking that marks one of the failings of the Left. Schools and colleges love them and brainwash them in socialistic and internationalist visions. Meanwhile, the common people, with average IQ's, make the country work.

Thomas Sowell's latest book "Intellectuals and Society" critiques the faulty vision of these people but acknowledges their verbal virtuosity which has allowed them to usurp control of many of our institutions. I thought Alexander was also criticizing the folly of the Left's abstract and arrogant ways of thinking????

  3. The article makes raises some interesting points:

"Some observers have decried an anti-intellectual strain in contemporary conservatism, detected in George W. Bush's aw-shucks style, Sarah Palin's college-hopping and the occasional conservative campaigns against egghead intellectuals."

Speaking of Sarah Palin's contradictions, at the Tea Party Convention speech, after lambasting Obama for using a teleprompter, she was caught on camera referring to notes she had inked on the palm of her hand, like a 7th grader, cribbing for a spelling test.
