  1. The post says New York, New Jersey and California are going to hell in a handbasket because of relative high "government" spending per capita.

    The writer conveniently excuses Alaska, the land of biggest government spending of all, from his argument, perhaps because Sarah Palin is at the helm there, and so the data does not count?

    You ignore a major difference between Alaska and the other three states.

    Alaska's government expenditures are less than its income.

  3. According to the Anchorage Daily News, Alaska is facing a 1.65 billion shortfall for fiscal 09 and a similar short fall for 2010, in spite of being the state that receives the most earmarks from the federal government. Alaska's troubles stem from falling oil revenues.
