Labor Unions’ Parasitical Greed

The UAW, in collusion with the Democrat/Socialists, plans to suck the remaining life blood from the tattered remains of Detroit’s Big Three.  Taxpayers get the funeral bill.

  1. In this post, Brewton says,

"In Stamford, Connecticut, where I live, police, fireman, and teachers unions, which constitute more than 70% of the budget, are driving property taxes upward at rates of 8% to 10% per annum."

Like many things Brewton says, this is demonstrably a lie. Elementary mathematical analysis tells us that if this were true, the tax rate would double every 7 years. Unions bear some responsibility for increased city costs, but Brewton uses them as convenient whipping boy to explain away a negative fiscal situation that is affecting the entire country.

  2. Do you know Stamford? I do, having lived here for about 15 years. Mr Brewton is fairly accurate regarding tax increases. Granted, the base was fairly low but they have easily doubled over the last 7 years. They'll be going up again. About 7-8% this year. Obviously you have no intention to lie you're simply ignorant.

  3. Seconding Tom C, Mr. Jay, I moved to Stamford in 1996 to escape astronomical real estate taxes in Scarsdale (Westchester County), NY. Until a few years ago, my taxes in Stamford were fairly stable. Then reassessments shifted the tax burden from commercial properties to home owners, and my assessment increased 98%. The Board of Represntatives instituted a policy of phasing in the doubling of taxes over five years.

It was sufficiently real that, facing 1970s-style stagflation under President Obama on top of a doubling of taxes, I sold my home and moved to a much lower-priced home in rural, upstate NY, where my taxes, to start at least, are only about 2/3 of my Stamford taxes in 1996.

  4. Little Jay is still at it: protecting the liberal left stupidity and phony window-dressing. He is against superior criteria and resuls and for nothing...

Typically, he is against the good that works and favors that which has a long history of decay, destruction, and death. Lacking criteria, no wonder. Put up or shut up, Jay. What are you for? Collectivism, national socialism, non-virtue, compromise...? Yeah, we know.

Because, we already know what losers are against!

  5. In his post, Brewton tells us that he lives in Stamford, Connecticut. Well, folks, that is not ACTUALLY true, he tells us now. He USED to live in Stamford, but now he REALLY lives in upstate New York.

Another instance of fibbing, I guess. What is the problem with a little white lie every now and then?

If George Bush and Dick Cheney can lie about WMD, I grant you that this is small potatoes.

  6. JJ- Are you serious? The article you quote regarding Mr Brewton's whereabouts is dated May 2008. A guy can't move without your permission? The only lies I read on this site are yours. Don't be a twit.

  7. "Jay" is a liar. His real name? All liars are cowards and free-riders. They make perfect collectivists. They live a guilt-ridden life, thus, they need a 'group' to hide in. He volunteers. He is not qualified to judge others.
