Obama’s Violation Of The First Amendment

Dogged belief in humans’ ability to control the world’s climate is a matter of secular, socialistic religious doctrine.  Imposing it via executive fiat amounts to unconstitutional establishment of a national religion.

Socialism’s Deep Roots

The late Henry Hazlitt, writing in 1970, informs us that the distortions and sometimes evil imposed upon us by socialistic, collectivized power are nothing new.

Market Mythology

Propagandists for Keynesian macroeconomics, today’s handmaiden for socialism, sincerely believe that trillions of dollars of Federal deficit spending are not enough to re-boot the economy.  They are confident, however, that if the government triples its current level of deficit spending the economy will recover fully.

But Robert J. Samuelson, an opinion writer for the Washington Post, writes: Cheap money can’t buy a strong economy

In his recap of factors blocking the Fed’s loose-money policy aiming to manipulate economic recovery, Mr. Samuelson should also mention Obama’s continual business-bashing and the flood of anti-business regulation gushing from Federal regulatory bureaus.

Uncertainty is the enemy of long-term capital investment, the only activity that creates new jobs.  And Comrade Obama in his reign as chief socialist has done almost everything one could imagine to create uncertainty and fear in business executives.

Amateurish Obama

Condemnation of House Republicans’ farm bill vote by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi also characterizes the entirely of Obama’s tenure in the presidency.

Ms. Pelosi said it was “amateurish” for Republicans to blame Democrats for defeating the bill. “To be an amateur is to pass blame on everyone else.” (Wall Street Journal, June 20, 2013, “Farm Bill Defeated in House”)

We’ll Tell You What And How To Do

An underlying presumption of liberal-progressivism is that ordinary people neither understand what is best for them nor are capable of doing what is best for them without guidance from their socialistic administrators.  New York City’s Mayor Bloomberg is a prime example of this mentality, proposing to regulate what people eat, how much they may eat and drink, and how they are permitted to obtain what they eat and drink.

Science vs. Scientism

Socialism, of which liberal-progressivism is the American sect, is a gross misapplication of presumed science to inappropriate fields of human experience.  18th century socialists, progenitors of today’s socialism, were strongly influenced by Newton’s laws of motion and his equations measuring the effects of gravity.  The Newtonian world, as they saw it (though Newton certainly didn’t see it that way) was matter set in motion and continuing so without the intervention of God, Whose existence was expressly denied.

The hubristic presumption of early modern socialists was that human political and social interactions were, as Newton’s universe, subject to laws of motion that the socialist elite alone were able to perceive.  This is quintessential scientism, not science.

In the socialist and American liberal-progressive view, because only the elite professoriate were able to discern and apply the presumed laws of social and political interaction, it is both the prerogative and the duty of that elite to control and direct the daily behavior of the rest of us.

That deformation of our original constitutional ethos is brought into focus in Mark Hendrickson’s essay on the Forbes Website:

The Pandora’s Box Of Progressivism: Positive Law

Creating A Problem

Liberal-progressives who believe that there are no essential differences between men and women go recklessly far beyond offering equal opportunity to women.  Mandating complete interchangeability between men and women in military combat roles creates a serious problem that is easily avoided.
