Senator Obama’s economic and foreign policy vacuity, cloaked in soaring rhetoric usually unencumbered by specifics, calls to mind MGM’s 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz.
In the movie, the great city at the end of the yellow brick road is dominated by the powerful voice of The Great Oz, heard everywhere by all inhabitants. When Dorothy (played by a young Judy Garland) and her companions work their way into the main administration building and pull aside a curtain, they discover that The Great Oz is just an ordinary little man, his voice amplified by a public address system microphone.
Senator Obama, whose resume is the least impressive of any candidate ever nominated for the presidency by a major political party, is a man of no particular accomplishments other than writing two autobiographies. Even his much touted editorship of the Harvard Law Review turns out to have been an unmerited fluke based on racial politics and political pull.
