The Constitution vs Unlimited Federal Power

The Constitution’s main bulwark against arbitrary government power was separation of powers among competing interests to prevent domination by any one, or even a few factions (now called interest groups).  Without this safeguard, the individual liberties enumerated in the Bill of Rights are steadily being eroded.
