Perspective on the German Elections

The Intellectual Conservative website has posted two useful articles giving the European view on the muddle created by German voters.  Read them here and here.

Paul Belien in “Germany in the Muddle of the Middle” describes the role of the media in distorting Angela Merkel’s proposals for welfare and tax reform, which were depicted to the German voters as little short of blood in the streets, despite the hugely successful operation of those policies in the East-Europe-Tiger countries liberated from Soviet dominance.

George de Poor Handlery in “Germany Elects to Continue in Her Misery” attributes the election outcome, not to the German constitutional system, but to the voters, to what I would term spineless ignorance.  He also notes the difficult foreign policy implications for the United States.?
