Labor Unions: A Marxist Rationalization
Douglas French, on the Mises Economics blog, recaps a Marxist theory that only with labor unions is it possible to have happy, skilled, and productive workers.
“...And we are supposed to believe that unionizing TSA employees will make air travel more efficient and pleasurable for the consumer?”
Experience demonstrates. to the contrary, that labor unions exist to make labor less productive per hour, at higher cost to producers and consumers. In short, labor unions are monopolies that extort more than their worth from consumers and taxpayers.
