Reader Mark Van Noy emailed observations about Iraq: the Video Game that bring the Vietnam imbroglio into focus with the world political situation of that day.

Mr. Van Noy writes:

I would, however, like to observe that you seem to have overlooked an important aspect of the phenomenon you describe: the active export of Communism (capital ‘C’ by the Soviet Union from about 1920 onward, until fall of the Soviet Union. This planned, highly organized, well funded effort laid the groundwork for events you describe that began to take effect during the mid-1960s.

One of the central tenets of Marxism is the mandate to proselytize across political boundaries. Once the Bolshevik Revolution established a dictatorial socialist government in the Soviet Union, they set about actively exporting Communism (socialism) to other countries in a concerted attempt to foment violent overthrow of existing governments and subsequent installation of Marxist regimes. One of the unintended consequences of this effort was the rise to power of Adolf Hitler and the Nazis (also socialists, only of a nationalist stripe rather than the internationalist persuasion of Marxism) in post-WW1 Germany, which ultimately led to WW2.

At the turn of the Twentieth Century, Americans erroneously saw the bloody Bolshevik Revolution as a version of our War of Independence in 1776, thus were very supportive of its goals. They saw Marxism as simply another legitimate, if somewhat extreme, political philosophy worthy of consideration. In fact, they viewed its extreme idealism as a virtue to be embraced rather than a virulent threat to their freedom and their way of life. It took us fully forty years to reach that realization. Meanwhile, the USSR was actively exporting Communism to America.

Part of their organized efforts was to infiltrate and philosophically dominate major American institutions. [Note: Here, I refer to their efforts in America because it is our focus in this discussion, even though they were just as active in many other nations. We later came to understand this and fought the Cold War as a consequence of our earlier laissez faire attitude toward Marxism.] They actively and purposefully infiltrated our government and our institutions of higher learning. They infiltrated our media and our entertainment industries. They infiltrated our defense industries and our research facilities. This happened BEFORE WW2, during the 1920s and 1930s, when the American people were still abused of the romantic notion that the Communists were a modern version of Robin Hood and his Merry Men.

During this period, there were openly active Communist Party and Nazi Party political movements in this country. They held huge political rallies and marched in the streets, openly carrying Soviet and Nazi flags. Very few people alive today remember this, but it can be researched if one is sufficiently diligent to break through the barriers erected by the leftist media and revisionist historians to protect themselves from justifiable implication in the events that followed. These movements were open and active up until December 7, 1941, where they went underground for obvious reasons. This does not mean that they became extinct on that day; they simply receded into the shadows. Their fanatical adherents went to ground to clandestinely pursue their objectives, which they are still doing unto this very day.

Joe McCarthy was NOT the villain that academia, the media, and entertainment industry make him out to be. He was more likely a national hero. Perhaps historians will someday recognize the fact that our national institutions were, indeed, infiltrated by Communists who planned to destroy us from within, and resurrect Joe’s reputation.

WW2 tore the veil off of Soviet intentions and we suddenly became aware of the pernicious threat they posed to our liberty and continued existence as a sovereign nation. Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, for instance, were products of active, organized Communist infiltration of our government. I remember the ongoing effort by many in the media and entertainment industries to raise doubt about the execution of these traitors and to rewrite history to cast the Rosenbergs as victims of a ‘witch-hunt’ by right-wing zealots and political opportunists. Immediately before the fall of the Soviet Union, these revisionists were close to achieving their goal of rewriting history. However, when KGB archives were opened for public viewing, one of the many revelations was that the Ethel and Julius were, indeed, Communist Party members and paid Soviet spies. Suddenly, the decades-long drumbeat to reconstruct the Rosenbergs went mercifully silent.

Another revelation that has been chillingly silenced by the media and entertainment industries was of active Soviet organizing and funding of the anti-war movement during the sixties and seventies. Active opposition to the Vietnam war was not the purpose of the organizing effort, it was merely a convenient vehicle. This is the point where we intersect with your observations, as laid out in the subject article.

The reason that it is important to make the connection between the 1920s and 1930s export of Soviet Communism to America and the events you recounted from the sixties and seventies is that we need to understand the extensive, highly organized, Soviet espionage project that created the extreme-left political cabal that we are still fighting today. It is the source of the far-left, atheist, anti- American, anti-military sentiment in our colleges and universities, media, government, entertainment industries, and courts. Like a virulent infection, it continues to thrive in the body-politic long after its source has ceased to exist. It has absorbed the Democrat party and forcibly seized control. It has populated our courts. It occupied the White House for four years of Carter and eight years of Clinton. It only recently lost control of Congress. Our national drift seems to be toward the right, however it is too soon to declare victory.

MoveOn.org, Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, Jane Fonda, John Kerry, the ACLU, NAMBLA, atheist attorney Michael Newdow, atheist “Minister” Barry Lind, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Chuckie Schumer, the City of San Francisco, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, George Soros, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore (Junior and Senior), Jacob Schiff (hyper-wealthy banker and major funder of the Bolshevik Revolution, whose great-great-grandson, Andrew Schiff, married Karenna Gore, Al Gore Junior’s daughter), Armand Hammer (nee Heimer, oil magnate, whose father founded the American Communist Party, who was a Communist, friend of the Soviet Union, funder of both Senior and Junior Gores’ political careers, and associate of J William Fulbright), J. William Fulbright (leftist Senator and principal mentor of Bill Clinton), Bill and Hillary Clinton, Robert Reich, Ramsey Clark, et al, are a scant few examples of this effect and the liaisons that created and abetted it.

In some instances, these individuals are undoubtedly true “agents” of the original Soviet espionage project, much as were the Rosenbergs. In other instances, they are simply “useful idiots.” In both instances, they are actively seeking the overthrow, albeit not necessarily the violent overthrow, of our government and imposition of a far-left, atheist, international, “one world order,” socialist regime. They are fanatically committed to this end and they believe that it justifies virtually any means necessary to achieve it. This is why they are unconcerned with obvious lies and corruption among their members and they close ranks to smooth over any scandal that threatens an important member, such as Bill Clinton.

They are ‘religious zealots’ of the ‘church of international socialism’ and they see our government and our military as the enemy of the one-world socialist order they seek. Our national sovereignty, our military, our patriotism, our God, our morality, our history, our national pride, our cultural institutions, our borders, our language, and our customs are all obstacles that must be neutralized in order for them to achieve their objective, which explains many things that happen today seem to confound common sense. The key to understanding these seemingly unrelated malevolent enterprises, such as the ACLU’s support for NAMBLA and Chuck Schumer’s attack on the Second Amendment, is to view them within the context of the broader project, set in motion by the Soviet Union, to force America into a one-world socialist order.

The Soviet Union may be dead, but its Marxist virus lives on in our body politic, seeking once again to cleave America by defeating our military from within, defeating honorable politicians, and destroying our cultural institutions.
