Just as liberal-progressives proudly avowed socialism in the 1920s and 1930s, today they eagerly promote radical redistribution of income and rationing of healthcare, both essential aspects of socialism.

The essayist, Peter Singer, is a true-blue liberal-progressive, who has attracted considerable controversy as professor of bioethics at Princeton University, an archetypical Ivy League puddle of secularity.
One of his books, Practical Ethics, espouses an up-to-date version of John Dewey’s philosophy of pragmatism: the belief that there are no moral principles, merely actions that benefit the actor or actions that fail to do so.
Professor Singer also is a seminal voice in the animal rights movement. For him, animal rights appear to outweigh human rights to life. He has argued that it’s wrong to make animals suffer, but OK to abort a human baby, because, he says, fetuses have no feelings. In the same vein, he has supported euthanasia: killing terminally ill adults and new-born infants with deformities.
This is what liberals call social progress.
