9/11 - Liberals Still Can’t Connect the Dots
Liberals, many of them at least, remain bewildered about why 9/11 happened. They see only random, worldwide Islamic violence, in which they perceive no common element.
An example of this bewilderment is liberal columnist Froma Harrop’s current piece titled Islamic Terror’s Endless ‘Root Causes’.
“That Islamic terrorists hate the United States is an all-purpose explanation. Dig deeper into the reasons for that hatred, though, and the confident answers of “expert opinion” don’t quite satisfy.
“Since that gruesome blue-sky day, Islamic radicals have staged more attacks and have been foiled in others. But try to find a connecting theme, other than psychosis. There’s only a pile of shifting motives.”
Why not believe what the terrorists themselves tell us is their reason for 9/11 and similar attacks around the world?
Osama Bin Ladin has proclaimed unequivocally, many times, that Al Queda envision themselves as reviving the campaign begun by Mohammed in 622 AD to establish a universal Islamic Caliphate and carried on ruthlessly for a thousand years thereafter.
In 622 AD the Mediterranean basin political states were almost all Christian. Mohammed’s Islamic military forces began systematically conquering, looting, and subjugating those states to Islam. The men resisting Islam were slaughtered and the women and children sold into slavery.
In addition to acquisitive instincts for other people’s property, Muslims were driven by Allah’s command in the Koran to convert everyone, everywhere to Islam, a name that in English means submission.
Efraim Karsh, in his April, 2006, article in Commentary noted:
“As the 14th-century historian and philosopher Abdel Rahman ibn Khaldun wrote, ?In the Muslim community, the jihad is a religious duty because of the universalism of the Islamic mission and the obligation [to convert] everybody to Islam either by persuasion or by force.?
According to the Muslim world view, the very existence of a non-Muslim United States is defined as an act of war against Islam.
In Islam’s inverted logic, jihad is not war. War is resistance, military or passive, to the onslaught of Islam. Peace is subjugation to jihad under the Islamic code of sharia. In the name of peace, the Koran ordered Muslims to attack us on 9/11.
That is the meaning of the phony-baloney about Islam being a religion of peace. Like Big Brother in George Orwell’s “1984,” Muslims pervert language, using words arbitrarily to mean whatever suits their conquest of non-Islamic political states.
What accounts for liberals’ inability to connect the dots, to accept the truth of what Muslims themselves tell us is their motivation?
In a word, it is socialism, the atheistic and materialistic religion pounded into college students’ heads for the past 45 years. Liberal-socialism’s anthropological and political doctrines are symbolized by the French Revolution’s enshrinement of the Goddess of Reason.
Neither God nor Allah exists in the world of liberal intellectualism, ergo the cause of 9/11 and other acts of jihad must be “rationally” understood as impelled alone by external, materialistic factors such as poverty or unequal distribution of wealth.
This runs immediately athwart the reality that most jihad leaders are highly educated young men from very wealthy families. Ignoring this inconvenient contradiction is not too hard for liberals, practiced as they have become since 1789 in ignoring the counter-productive effects of socialism wherever it has been tried.
After all, what is the meaning of rational intellectualism if not that theory trumps empirical fact?
American liberals worshipped the Soviet Union as the salvation of the human race until Soviet implosion in the 1980s produced incontrovertible evidence of socialists’ brutal liquidation of tens of millions of dissidents, and of the near poverty of the entire population outside the ruling clique of Socialist Party members.
Liberals “know” that humans are inherently beneficent and peaceful unless they are provoked by the institution of private property and its attendant unequal distribution of wealth. In theory, when forced to live in a political state that sanctions private property, sensitive people have no choice but to turn to aggression and crime.
There is an odd parallel between Islam’s doctrine of peace through the world Caliphate and socialism’s theory that world peace and the perfection of humanity are to be attained when the entire world shall have converted to socialism.
Both under Islamic sharia and liberal-socialism’s collective rule by an intellectual elite, “peace” would resemble the orderly life of prison inmates. The politico-religious state’s role in both cases is to regulate every aspect of individual life.
Perhaps that’s why liberals see no evil in the religion of Islam and are blind to it as the sole cause of terrorist acts like those of 9/11.
